This is hard to appreciate if you aren't familiar with my company culture but I'll give it a try.
A man was interviewing here for a position as the Vice-President of Store Operations. He called my boss yesterday to follow up and told him that he had a very "unique" interview with Steve. My boss was nervous as this man is easily 50 years old and lord only knows what Steve could have said..
This is what transpired...
The first question Steve asked was "Are you smart?" ( i can't even begin to comment on that one)
The next question "What was your high school rank?" (even though high school was more than 30 years ago for this man)
The man replied "Second."
Steve (with a condescending tone) "If you were second then who was first?"
"Oprah Winfrey"
ha - and yes it really was Oprah.
And for the first time Steve was speechless.
alternatively, I would have like to hear Steve's response if the candidate replied "Last" to the ranking question and/or "Jessica Simpson" to the "Who was first?" question.
